Happy Movie Day
Happy Oscar Sunday! I have seen two movies this weekend in preparation (and because I’m sick and can’t handle much more than that) — The King’s Speech and 127 Hours. I thought both were great, although 127 Hours was definitely hard to watch. James Franco was amazing in the movie, but the subject matter (hiker gets hand trapped in a very narrow space) and gory scenes had me cringing through most of the film. My friend Michelle, who went with me, said she was determined to man up and keep her eyes open through the entire movie. I was not so successful.
The King’s Speech was pretty much what I expected: a brilliant performance from Colin Firth, a generally sweet and feel-good movie, but nothing surprising. The quality of the acting and the interesting subject matter are what made it stand out, for sure.
Are you excited about the Oscars? Do you watch it more for the movies and to see who will win or to observe what the celebrities are wearing?
